OELP daily reflections ---xujiani (22)

Sunday(25/5/2014):
Today we went to Anhui, He Fei through the high-speed rail which is like the MRT in Singapore. It was very comfortable and stable. Trains are present for long time in China and now the maglev,high-speed rail and the MRT are getting popular too. I wonder if this high-speed rail will take over the normal train since they both are for long distances and no one will really want to take the slow speed train if were to choose between the two.
Although I had grown up in China and had also visited some cities and provinces in China, Anhui is a place I am totally unfamiliar with. In my mind the name Anhui had always painted an image of a backward province that is not well developed with dirty roads and old houses. However, riding on the bus and looking out of the window onto the streets of Anhui, I realized that it is not as bad as I thought. There were lots of greeneries and other efforts done by the government to make the place more welcoming. I could see advertisements everywhere designed nicely to encourage everyone to be responsible citizens and uphold moral values. This showed me that the government is doing their parts to improve the society and I think this will really make a great change.
We went for the cultural visit to Sanhe guzhen. It is said to be famous for its rivers and architectures. Unfortunately, we did not have the honor to see the beauty of the rivers because they all dried up. According to the tour guide, it was because the government wants to improve the environment of the rivers so they dried them up to clean the rivers.

Monday 26/5/2014:
Today we paid a visit to Heifei 45 middle school. I was anxious and thrilled before I met my buddy. She is a very nice and friendly person and we get along very well in no time.
I noticed that the school is comparably smaller to our school with only two teaching blocks and an open space divided into four basketball courts. Their classroom is also crowded and their tables were narrow and small with two people sharing, but these did not cause them to complain and they have a very positive learning attitude which really influenced me greatly and engaged me in their lessons.
Together, We had politic, math, physic and champs period .They have 10 minutes' break in between every 40 minutes lesson, which allow them to get refreshed and discuss questions with friends about the previous lesson in time. Every class there is a quote that encourages the students to work hard. The students are very active in class and they showed eagerness to learn as most of them would participate by rising hand and even shout out the answers without the teacher asking. I think this is something that I really have to learn from them. I should not be afraid to answer wrongly as we can always learn better from mistakes.

5 things I love about RV:
1) diligent cleaners keeping RV's environment clean
2) the good planing of classes allowing students to learn easier with more fun
3) advance and new facilities
4) having lessons like FCE and Malay
5) having two canteens with delicious food

Tuesday 27/5/2014:
In the morning, we went to visit Anhui Museum. The museum is mainly about Anhui's cultures and architectures. From the visit, I learnt how the people back then applied their knowledge and wisdom into real life and helped  themselves to solve problems. The houses are usually made of wood which would catch fire easily from the one beside it as the houses are connected in a row down the street. Thus, the people built brick walls that were higher up than the roof to prevent fire from spreading. This is called the "马头墙"as it looks like horse head. I was also surprised to know that it was a well-known general who invented "毛笔", a kind of brush used for writing purposes back then, but not some scholars. I also got to know that the four treasures of scholars which are the writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper are also products of Anhui people. With so many inventions related to study, no wonder there had been so many Anhui scholars with outstanding results in the ancient imperial examinations.
In the afternoon, we went to Anhui cultural heritage park. Walking in some of its streets designed to show people the past time scenes of Anhui, I felt like I had travelled back to then. However, a circus show was really a heartbreaking thing to watch. Even though I had been living in China for so many years, I had not watched a single circus performance before. This show revealed the undeniable truth of the other side of the society that animals were being treated badly and played around as if their lives are worthless. On the other hand, I understand that some people just have to do this to get money for their own family. There are no real right or wrong but I truly hope that the government can take charge and help both the people and the animals out of their miserable lives.

Wednesday 28/5/2014:
This was the long-awaited day as our class climbed up Huangshan, one of the famous mountains in China.  To speak the truth, I do not really like to climb mountains as I did not exercise a lot during my free time. I also had a bad experience of having muscle ache after climbing Huashan, another famous mountain in China. I was dreading the climb but in the same time, wanting to prove my ability to climb with my classmates and to appreciate the beautiful sceneries from the top of Huangshan. During the climb, I saw many workers hurrying off the steep steps with heavy luggages on their shoulders. From the tour guide, I got to know that they were the workers who earn money using their strength, carrying  luggages up and down the mountain on bare foot for tourists. They all looked thin and skinny, not strong and tall like what I had expected. This kind of jobs I had also seen before such as carrying tourists that could not climb up the mountain. Those men were mostly farmers who did not have much educations thus they could only do these jobs requiring strength to earn more money for family. I felt sorry for them and I think that in future, government should try to give them more financial supports and provide more education chances for their children so that they can have a better future. The climb was a tough one but with the encouragements and supports from friends, I eventually managed to reach the top. I could not help but think of this sentence" Life is a climb, but the view is great." and I truly agree with it as we will have to face difficulties before we taste the joy of succeed.

Thursday 29/5/2014:
In the early morning, I gave up on the idea of getting out of my warm bed to watch sunrise immediately when I sensed the coldness outside. When my friend came back and showed me the picture, I did not feel too regretful as it was not really too breathing taking a view for me to sacrifice my sleep. In the morning, we climbed another route to see a different view from the previous one. This time, all classmates were taking lots of photos as we would be leaving in the afternoon. We also ran into an ex-RVian and we were so happy that we sang our school song together on top of Huangshan.
In the afternoon, we reached Hongcun Ancient Village for a visit. The village is built by the Wang family specially for their family only. It is not like any random village that anyone can live in as they please. The Wang family occupied the place all for themselves and they built school for the children and memorial temples for their ancestors. The houses in the village are all in white for walls while the roofs are all made of bricks but the insides are all made of woods. There were also many art students there practicing sketching and painting. The pictures were very well drawn as if they were images captured using camera.

Friday 30/5/2014:
Today we went to Xidi village, which is quite the same as the Hongcun village as they both have the same architecture style. From the visit of the two place, I summarized some common ancient cultures of Anhui. In the past, there would be a narrow table directly opposite the main door behind where the master and his wife sat to meet guests. On the table, there would be a mirror on the left , a clock in the middle and a vase on the right. This means peace and protect the family from any misfortune falling upon the family. There were also always a table separated into halves one each leaning against a wall at the two sides of the hall. This was to tell visitors when they saw that the table was in halves, the master of the house was not at home and they should come next time as the women were not allowed to see guests alone. The table would be put together when the master was at home symbolizing union. Many different  types of carvings were also seen inside and outside houses depending on the believes of the family.
Afterwards, we went for a visit to Huishang Big House. The house was indeed very big. All the furnitures and carvings show the wealth and the high position in the society of the owner.
In the evening, we had a talk from a professor of Hui culture. He knows a lot about Hui culture and its history and I was surprised that they were so fascinating. I learnt about the people migrating to Anhui in the past and how they started to make Anhui their home and started on their businesses. I must say Anhui is really a place rich in culture and history and what I have learnt and understood were truly only a small bit of it.

Saturday 31/5/2014:
Last day of our OELP trip, we went to Tunxi old street which is only a few minutes bus ride from our hotel. The street was indeed quite old but with some shops that were more modern such as the coffee shop. We did not have a lot of time to shop but I made good use of the only 100 yuan that I had and gotten myself as much things as possible which I liked very much.
After this, we took a long ride to Hangzhou for the cruise on the famous West Lake. However, the view was not as great as what I had expected. The views on land such as the pagoda is not clear and they were not so picturesque. The visit to the Yue Fei Mausoleum was the one that I liked very much. I truly respect the hero and I was so upset to learn that the four people who caused Yue Fei's death were not punished when they were alive.
The OELP trip have come to an end but my interests in Anhui's history and culture have not stopped. I look forward to more immersion trips and to learn more about other cultures.

RV Trip Advisor Anhui

DAY 0
Rayfont Hotel
3/5 stars

The hotel room was spacious and well decorated, giving us a sense of belonging. There were adequate furnitures, good enough for is to rest well after the flight from Singapore to Shanghai. The only thing was that there was no wifi in the room, except this, everything was okay, thus we rated it three out of five stars.

DAY 1
High Speed Rail
4/5 stars

On the high speed rail, the air conditioning was good and managed to cause me to fall asleep, and the seats were quite wide for an average person to sit, but the pathway was quite narrow such that two people could walk though easily. Most importantly, it was a stable and quiet ride, so we rated it four out of five stars.

3/5 stars

In this restaurant, we got the first hand experience to try out the local dishes in Anhui. The dishes were okay, just that we were quite accustomed to the food in Singapore, so we did not really eat that much as compared when we were in Singapore. Even though we could not really appreciate the dishes at our tables, but when we trying the dishes the first time, we got to see the clear difference between the cooking methods in Anhui and the cooking methods in Singapore. As we did not really accustomed to the taste, so we rated it three out of five stars.

5/5 stars

In Sanhe Guzhen, we viewed a lot of residences in it and also spotted a lot of cultural relics that was valuable for our learning for the culture of Anhui. In Sanhe Guzhen, we managed to see a replica of the first man in China who got the novel prize in physics, and surprisingly, he was also a great generals, with a lot of commendations. In Sanhe Guzhen, we learnt about the" 马头墙“, which was a wall between two residences, to prevent fire from spreading from one house to another house. From this useful architecture, we can learnt from the people of the past. All in all, Sanhe Guzhen was truly an eye opener for us and got us exposed to the culture in Anhui, so we rated it five out of five stars.

Holiday Inn Express Hefei South
5/5 stars

The hotel room in Holiday Inn was indeed fabulous, with comfortable beds and even a wide table for is to do our reflections and the toliet was clean and hygienic, and there was still wifi, thus we rated it five out of five stars.

DAY 2
Hefei 45 School
4/5 stars

In Hefei 45 middle school, we were privelleged and honored to have the Chinese students there to be our buddies. During the lessons taught by the various teachers, we gained a lot of knowledge and also learnt about a subject, that we had never encountered it before in river valley high school, it was politics. In politics, we learnt about the rights of people as well as rules, regulations and laws that every citizen had to abide by. Even though we could not really understand the subject but we still get the gist of the lesson. Even though the time spent with our buddies in Hefei 45 middle school was enjoyable, the toilet was unbearable and we were wondering if the students there dreaded the stench coming out of the toliet , thus we rated it four out of five stars.

3/5 stars

In this restaurant, we get to try a variety of dishes and the delicious would quite appealing and we ate quite a lot compared to the previous restaurant that we mentioned. From the food served at our table , we were able to see different cooking methods displayed in each dish, and overall, the dishes were quite nice, thus we rated it three out off five stars.

DAY 3
Anhui Museum
5/5 stars

In Anhui museum, we get to visit various exhibitions, exhibiting different types of historic sand cultural relics in mainland China, as well as Anhui. One of the commonly used cultural relics were the four treasure of study. The brushes that we used to paint a landscape portrait could be seen in the display booth, with different sizes and patterns lined up and it really surprised us by the various size of the brushes and the purposes for it. Our questions were answered by the knowledgeable guide and it really let us gained a lot of knowledge and insight of the culture in Anhui, as well as in China. The trip to Anhui museum was definitely a good and enriching one, and we hoped that we could visit the museum again.

China Intangible Cultural Heritage Park
1/5 stars

In China intangible cultural heritage park, we were awed by the wonderful decorations put up at the entrance. In the park, we managed to spectate a rooster fight, where two roosters were put on the stage and they had to fight for survival and the winner would get a piece of meat. From here, we can see the cruelty displayed in the rooster fight, which was the culture in Anhui. Later on, we went on to spectate the circus. When we stepped into the circus tent, we were awed by the environment inside the tent and we were expecting a good performance put up, but it turned up otherwise. During the circus, we saw four tigers acting and when they were reluctant to perform the act, the ringmaster hit the tigers with a metal bar, and the tigers did not retaliated but squirmed in agony. Even though the tigers were hurt and continuously refused to perform, the ringmaster did not give a second thought and continued abusing them. If we were in the tigers point of view, we would feel that it is very painful and that the ringmaster should not abused them, but standing in the ringmasters point of view, the tigers performing acts would just give them profits, money to provide a livelihood for his family, money to live. So this really led us into thinking that why are the people are resorted into abusing these animals and why are there no measures taken out to improve the lives of its people. As many of us were struck by the animal abuse displayed in the circus performance, thus we rated it one out of five stars.

DAY 4
Cable car on Huangshan
4/5 stars

During the cable car ride to Huangshan, it was quite enjoyable as I could see the mountains, which gave me a heavenly feeling and the right was quite smooth, except for some occasional bumps here and there, so we rated it four out of five stars.

Huangshan
4/5 stars

In Huangshan, we got to witnessed the magnificent scenic view displayed in front of our eyes. The heavenly background of the mountains really awed most of us as it was our first time climbing Huangshan and getting  to witness the paramount view of other mountains in Huangshan. For the sake of witnessing the sunrise, we woke up at 4.05am to witness the whole process of sunrise. The sunrise was indeed marvellous, and by waking up early, really paid off. The sunrise was quite nice and glaring, sending luminous rays of light, which fascinated us. The cold air that enveloped us really gave us a heavenly feeling, which was enjoyable. All in all, Huangshan is a very nice place to visit and that it gave us a memorable experience, that would never be wiped off for the rest of our life, thus we rated out four out of five stars.

Dinner on Huangshan
4/5 stars

During the dinner on Huangshan, the quality of the food was much better compared to the previous restaurant mentioned. The food was very appealing and we ate quite a lot, thus we rated it four out of five stars.

3/5 stars

The hotel room was not as spacious as compared to other hotels and that it was very crammy. The hotel room did not even have a proper table for us to do our reflections and that the pathway in our hotel room was narrow, as two persons could not walk through and the toliet was also very crammy, thus we rated it three out of five stars.

DAY 5
Hongcun Ancient Village
4/5 stars

In Hongcun Ancient Village, we get to visit the residences that had been preserved over the few decades and it could be clearly seem on the exterior and the interior of every residences. We learnt that when the breadwinner or the master of the house is out, they would split the table into halves and moved them to the two sides of the living room and we also noticed that there was a vase on the left side of the table and a clock at the others side of the table. We found out that it symbolizes serenity, and it was then we truly learnt about the various, interesting culture practices, displayed in their residences, thus we rated it four out of five stars.

4/5 stars

In the hotel room, the room was spacious and there were comfortable bed, wide table for us to pen down our reflections. Furthermore, the toliet was hygienic and there was even a bathtub. As the hotel room was on par with the first and the second hotel room that we stayed at, we rated it four out of five stars.

DAY 6
Xidi Ancient Village
4/5 stars

In Xidi ancient village , we got to witness the cultural practices of the people of the past, which fully resembled and matched the practices in Hongcun ancient village, thus we also learnt a lot other than our visit to Hongcun ancient village, thus we rated it four out of five stars.

3/5 stars

This house was built by a rich and famous businessman, and in the house, we could see the pavilions, various decoration, that symbolizes wealth, prosperity as well as his place in the society. Even though the interior of the house was marvellous, we did not really learnt that much compared to our visit to the two ancient villages, thus we rated it three out of five stars.

4/5 stars

The last stay in this hotel room was definitely memorable. The hotel room was beyond my expectations. It was well furnished, wide and spacious enough to hold at least six people and the toliet was exceptionally hygienic, thus we rated it four out of five stars.

DAY 7
Tunxi Ancient Street
5/5 stars

In this ancient street, we got to visit some old, famous trademark shops that sell the local products of Anhui. We got to buy the local products, some really nice local food products, for our parents to try and relish on it. As it was the only and the last time we were allowed to buy things on the street, it was the one of the memorable day of the trip, thus we rated it five out of five stars.

Yue Fei Mausoleum
3/5 stars

In the Yue Fei mausoleum, we learnt a brief history of Yue Fei from the tour guide and we even visted the mausoleum of Yue Fei and his son. Even though we were able to see the mausoleum of Yue Fei and his son, we did not really learnt about the in depth history of Yue Fei, thus we rated it three out of five stars.

OELP Overall Reflection ( Toh Zhan Ting XD )

Overall reflection on OELP---xujiani(22)

OELP Overall Reflections - Serena Soo (17)

OELP personal reflections- Anhui Zhiyang(33)

OELP reflections - Toh Zhan Ting XD

  Day 1
    (25/05/14)
Today, it was the first time taking China’s high speed rail and i’m rather looking forward to it and furthermore, we need to take three hours to reach HeFei ( 合肥 ). Before the ride, I was pretty excited, but during the ride, I started to get bored, feeling that “ hours wear on like years ”, I felt like spending these hours in hell. The only thing that interest me or rather fascinate me is the way how high speed rail travels. While riding it, I feel myself floating in the air, this is when i realised the rail is using the concept of “magnetic repulsion”. Time so slowly………………
 th.jpg
When we reached HeFei, I was pretty annoyed by the noise pollution by the “cars’ horning”. Not only that, beggars were all around on the streets begging for money. There was one beggar came towards me and snatched away my “cheeseballs” out of a sudden and I was shocked and baffled. This is a scenery which you would never expect to happen in Singapore. Furthermore, cars were everywhere and the way they travel is totally different from Singapore. In Singapore, cars were travelling in orderly manner, but here, they were in total mass, horning at one another as if they were fighting. In Singapore, its the people gets the priority to cross the road first, but here again, maybe it’s the car getting the priority. There was a heavy traffic before we reach our next destination.

Next, we reached the restaurant for lunch. Since then, our stomach were already moaning in hunger and we thought that the food they had prepared would be delicious. I heard from my fellow classmates that their dishes were horrible, but i don’t think so actually. Maybe, I’m a vegetarian and only eat the vegetables served ?
Following that, we went to San He Gu Zhen (三河古镇), I feel that this place was boring and coming here was meaningless. But in order not to let this trip be a wasteful one, I forced myself to pay attention to what the tour guide was introducing. This place is a place where many outstanding people in china's history resides. I learnt about some historical facts about China in the war between the Communist and Rationalist when Sun Li Ren ( 孙立人 ) got shot thirteen bullets and he actually survive ! And to be exact, he had three wives. Yang Zhen Ning ( 杨振宁 ) was one of the few Chinese who had won the Nobel Prize in Physics, which had done the Chinese proud. And what I found out again was, he had two wives. His second wife was forty old younger than him and I was amused that she is willing to marry him. And lastly after this trip, order i didn’t really enjoy myself, but I’ve still had a question to ask: “ Why do these people have more than one wife ? ”

 Day 2
(26/05/14)
Today, we went to No.45 middle school ( 合肥45)actually i was really afraid to meet my buddy. firstly, i’m afraid that awkwardness would occur. secondly, i heard that i’m going to visit his house after lesson. Once we were outside the school gate, teachers and students started warmly welcoming us. At that moment, all of us feel really really shy and didn’t know what to do like a lost child without teachers’ instructions. 10441053_667351216647484_2637820325474180625_n.jpg
According to mr wong, the students are the top students in the school and to not to embarrass myself or tarnish our school reputation, i decided to behave myself and shut my “ big mouth “. we were told to find our buddies in their auditorium, and this is when i was lost. i didn’t know how my buddy looked like and only know the name of his. i just sat down there passively and waited for him. Oh no ! most of my friends had found their partner and  settled down except for me……..
suddenly, a person ‘pop’ out in front my face out of nowhere looking for me. my reaction is like “finally !after so long!” after that, he brought me to this class where i found it amazing. In singapore,  a class at most can fit thirty four pupils but in china, it can actually fit twice of us which is more than 60 pupils. there is something that i had learnt from them, they were really really proactive and enthusiastic in class, whenever teachers start to ask a question, they would start to chattering, competing with one another, trying to answer her question. Unlike us, when teacher asked a question we sat there like nothing happen as if a wind had just blown past, waiting teacher to call for us. they have the studying attitude, they want to learn more which i’m admire of, as for us, we just trying to slack, not wanting to learn and waiting to go home. i really hoped that our timetable can change like theirs which is to have a ten minute interval break after every lesson, moreover they had a two hours break at 12 o’clock. but this would end up ending school at five o’clock which i’m really glad that school release us at 2o’clock. and the greatest difference between their lesson and ours is their teacher used chinese to teach them while ours used english most of the time. furthermore, they started learning politics in china cat our age but in river valley, we could only learn that in year 4 economics. before class, they will exercise their facial features which would make them more energized.  they had specially prepared a performance for us which i  was very touched by their efforts made for us.  and it i’m very regretful that we had never prepared any stuff for the class.
After that, i went to my buddy house.  At first, i thought that he is very rich but from what i see, his house was utterly destitute, and from that, i can conclude that “he’s facing poverty”. he shared with me that he do not have any pocket money. even if he does, and it is also from the school. every semester, those students for scored top 400 will get 30RMb from the school as a reward. upon hearing this, i felt ashamed because back in singapore, i would not like to save money, instead spending them carelessly and recklessly without second thought. he kept on sharing his experience with me, some of it were rather interesting while some were really broken-heart. After a long period of time, we walked back to school, although we did not spent much time with each other but when i’m back in hotel, i already started missing him and really regretted never talk to him earlier, but no choice, time cannot be reversed, the only thing now to do is to email him once we were back in singapore.
5 things i love about RV
1) noise level- sometimes we need peaceful environment to study. Compared to no. 45 middle school, i feel that our school noise level is rather low. during break time or recess, we will not be as rowdy as them making noise disturbing others.
2) Timetable- in Rv we were supposed to be released at 2.45 p.m. but in this school, their timetable are throughout the whole day.
3) Auditorium- Rv auditorium has air-conditioner while in this school they used fan to operate. furthermore, our chair has a much smoother surface cushion compared to theirs.
4) Toilet- RV toilet is much cleaner and smell more “fragrant” than theirs.
5) canteen - Rv has a big canteen while this school does not seems to be having one. they have to return home or have their lunch outside school which is not very convenient.
Day3
(27/05)

Today, we went to AnHui museum and honestly, I do not really like to visit historical places, learning the past facts. But luckily, there is air-conditioner in this museum, if not i believe i would be dead under the glaring sunlight as if we were in a barbecue pit being barbecued like a roasted pig. Many ancient things like weapons used in the Song dynasty or even earlier were found in this museum and learning more about 文房四宝. Actually, I pitied the bus driver when I saw him wandering around, nothing to do other than waiting for us patiently. However, after visiting the museum, my WORST nightmare were to emerge. We went to the 中国非物质园......20140527_092537.jpg20140525_173011(0) (1).jpg20140527_103023.jpg        Firstly, we encountered a few chickens struggling and were locked up in a cage individually and we were told not to either get close to them or touched them because we never knows what bacteria the chicken feather might be carrying or what disease they might have been infected. Hence, safety comes first. The first performance held up was 斗鸡 ( Chicken Fight ). There were four chickens were about to fight each other two at a time. They were fighting each other brutally, aggressively, fighting for survival, furthermore, this was a “ bloody war ” which blood was “erupted” whenever they bite or scratch each other. To be honest, my friends and I were very excited and betting with one another which chicken would be knocked down first. Next, there was a horse racing which everybody knew but dog racing, we had never encountered these before, not even on television. And of course, these match were suitable for us to place a bet whether which would come in first. According to one of my friend, he saw one of the horse were being forced to eat a bamboo before the match. Furthermore, the dogs were chasing after or rather baited by a meat controlled by a machine in order for them to complete the race. You never know what is behind the scenes, maybe, these small animals were being tortured by manpower in terms of physical or mental health. For example, the chicken could only rest once the time is up, if not they have to keep on fighting with each other for survival. There was a badly injured chicken were also forced to fight, and his feathers were all gone and only traces of blood can be spotted. To the trainers, if one of the chickens had died, it would not be a big deal to them because they can replace them any time. The only thing they cares about is the standard of the performance. I I had no rights to say anything about them being cruel because i was even more inhuman for thinking it was exciting at the start. Next, we went to the circus. It was animal abuse AGAIN……
Four tiger had enter a cage together with two men holding metal staff on their hands, making sure that the tigers were performing well. I believe that the tigers had tasted the pain of these iron staff before, if not they were actually known for the kings of the forest, they would not be obeying their trainers’ words at all if they had not been tortured before in the past. Once they stop cooperating with the trainers, they will be badly beaten up by them with the metal staff. I felt so helpless after seeing all these. Such ferocious animals had actually been “controlled” by humans. I could not take it anymore, hence, my friends and I proposed to leave that circus until the end of the show. To be honest, I cried after that. I knew that it’s their culture and the way they earn money by risking their lives trying to torture such animals even if they would be eaten up one day. I learnt that everything had at least two perspectives and we should always learn to view it in different ways. In my opinion, money is the greatest temptation to the trainers. For the sake of money, they even “Yolo-ed” with their lives without considering any consequences. Furthermore, we, as the audience had also given them a chance to perform. Actually without these audience, they would eventually cancel this event because they knew that it will be meaningless performing to “air”. Although today is a bad day,but I had learnt several things.

Animals did nothing wrong so why humans are abusing them.

     Day 4   (28/05)

Today, it is finally a meaningful day to me. We finally climbed up to HuangShan after so long. We took at least two hours to climb up that mountain and another two climbing down. Although it was very very tiring and I almost felt like giving up, but everything was worth after all.  Firstly, before we even climb, we took a cable car up to the foot of the path where we climbed up. It was the first time i took cable car and I kind of felt insecure when the cable car was travelling. Firstly, it was really really squeezy inside where I almost suffocated. Furthermore, I do not believe such cable car can actually carry thirty people weight which would add up to almost 2000 kilograms. But luckily, no accidents, I thought that the cable car would actually dropped down. Climbing steps were the most tiring stuff, and we have to climb 30 minutes to our hotel. After settling all our belongings in the hotel, we headed to the highest peak of Huangshan, GuangMingDing which is 1840m tall. MingWei, Yida, Zhiyang and me, four of us wanted to “ act cool” or rather “ act pro ”, we decided to run up, competing with one another whether who would reach first. But during this journey, we decided to play truth or dare in order to distract ourselves because it was too exhausting. After 20 minutes, we cannot make it any further, hence, we sat down, resting our feets. Sense of accomplishment, and everything  was not in vain after admiring at the beautiful scenery of HuangShan. Although today was tiring but every hard efforts had been paid off.

Day 5 (29/05)
Today is the day we woke up much earlier than usually for the "Legend Sunrise". It is a 50% chance to see the sunrise in summer and we just "yolo" and go for it. Besides that, we woke up at 4.30a.m. and the temperature was really really low and my body was out of control and started trembling tremendously.  I was really very excited to see the sunrise for          the first time and everybody was very anxious (kiasu), fighting for the best view. We had no        choice to stand behind because we came later than the other tourist. Waited for 15                      minutes and nothing came out, furthermore, I'm FREEZING!!!!!

I was disheartened and started loitering around. Finally, after so long......... the sun had risen and we              saw the Legend Sunrise. Beautiful is just not powerful enough to describe this scenario, suddenly I felt            that everything is worth because seeing this sunrise is like once in a blue moon to me.After that,                      everybody went back to hotel. From this incident, I realized that sometimes you would have to sacrifice        to reach that goal. You must try before you even give up although it might be less than 50%.

After breakfast, we left HuangShan. This mountain is a place where all of us bonded together, get closed with one another, knowing one another better. This place had lots of wonderful and precious memory, and I believe I would never forget such wonderful and beautiful MOUNTAIN !!! Last but not least, before we leave, we had a class photo.

We headed to the HongChun after on. Actually everything there is constructed by the 汪 family, for example, the school. In the past they constructed a school for the poors to study. Jordan was sick during that time, and he was quite weak and cannot walk too much. Hence, for the first round he did not follow us, but for the second round, Mr Wong wants him to walk around if not this would be a wasteful trip to him. MingWei and I decided to escort him in case he "break down" anytime. We actually had COMPASSION like the 汪 family.
