Poverty in Singapore (Reflection)

In Singapore, it is highly unlikely that you will find beggars lining the streets or see starving children walking the pavements, scrounging for food. However, they may be staying in flats but their living conditions are not too good. The families of these people often only have their fathers as the sole bread-winner of the whole household, their children are often not able to do better than their parents due to lack of access to knowledge and educational support. Sometimes, the child may even have to quit school to work and supplement the family’s income, simply trying to put food on the table.
An example of their living conditions:

Personal reflection:
From this, I reflected that we have to cherish all that we have. We do not have to live in poor living conditions, we get to go to school everyday and we get to have three meals per day. I learnt that we have to make the best out of everything we have, whether we are born in wealthier or poorer families, we just have to work hard and we can succeed one day. This also taught me not to take things for granted, our parents work hard to provide for us, we have to do our best to help them in any way possible.
